Rapid laboratory screening tests for Kids
At Alliance Pediatrics® of Fort Worth, we understand how important it is to quickly diagnose and treat illnesses in children. That’s why we offer a variety of rapid laboratory screening tests in our clinic to provide timely results and ensure your child gets the care they need as soon as possible.
What tests do we offer?
Our on-site rapid testing includes, but is not limited to:
- The Xpert Xpress CoV-2/Flu/RSV plus test is a multiplexed real-time PCR test intended for the simultaneous in vitro qualitative detection and differentiation of RNA from SARS-CoV-2, influenza A, influenza B, and/or RSV in one nasopharyngeal swab or anterior nasal swab specimens collected from individuals with signs and/or symptoms of respiratory viral infection. This test does take longer to run, normally between 20-45 minutes so we may need to call you with results after you have left.
- Strep Throat – A rapid strep test can quickly confirm or rule out a strep infection, allowing us to provide immediate treatment if necessary.
- Influenza A & B – We offer rapid flu testing to detect both types of the influenza virus (A&B), helping to guide treatment options and expectations of symptoms during flu season.
- Mononucleosis (Mono) – If your child is experiencing symptoms like fatigue or a sore throat, a rapid mono test can determine if they have this common viral infection.
- Urinary Symptoms – For children with symptoms of a urinary tract infection (UTI), we offer rapid tests to identify the presence of infection and ensure prompt treatment.
- Blood Glucose Levels – We can quickly test your child’s blood sugar levels to help monitor for diabetes or other metabolic conditions.
- Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) – RSV test is a dipstick immunoassay which allows for the rapid, qualitative detection of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) antigen (viral fusion protein) directly from nasopharyngeal swab for symptomatic pediatric patients .The test is intended for use as an aid in the diagnosis of acute respiratory syncytial viral infections.
- COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test looks for nucleocapsid protein antigen from SARS-CoV-2 in nasal swab specimens.
- Other Laboratory Tests – In addition to the above, we provide a range of other rapid tests tailored to your child’s symptoms and needs.
Why choose rapid testing?
Rapid laboratory tests offer fast and reliable results, often within minutes, allowing our pediatricians to diagnose illnesses promptly. This ensures that your child can begin treatment sooner, reducing discomfort and preventing complications. Rapid testing also helps us make more informed decisions about the best course of care.
Convenient, on-site testing
All of these tests are performed in our office, eliminating the need for outside lab appointments. Our caring team ensures that your child feels comfortable throughout the testing process, minimizing stress for both you and your child.
At Alliance Pediatrics® of Fort Worth, we are committed to providing comprehensive, convenient, and compassionate care. For more information about our rapid laboratory testing services or to schedule an appointment, please contact us today.
